Antique Persian large carpet Restoration : This country home antique Persian Heriz large Carpet reminds us of its rich heritage and profound history. Measuring 19’9″x11′ and made around the early 20th century, it presents a cultural reference between East and West, but like many rugs made around the same period subjected to years of negligence and over usage. Even though toughly made, rugs like many other objects need to be cherished and looked after, so they can remain vibrant and lively. Obviously, rugs are used for different purposes, for example silk or finely woven rugs only use as a showcase, others mainly use for occupying an area of the house to withhold heavy footfall or traffic. Apart from normal wear due to the years of usage, other elements such as pet’s soiling, food and drink spillages or moth damage can also destroy any rug no matter how strong and durable they may be. All said for the carpet lovers like myself, It is always a pleasure to restore beautiful and splendid carpets like this one back to its old glory. In order to ensure rugs similar to this serve their future owners like they did with passed generations, we need to look after them. Different rugs are suitable for certain areas in the home, and there are few basic principles, which should always be applied. For example we need to avoid placing houseplants on a rug as the humidity needed by plants often causes mildew, or avoid placing a rug in full sunlight, as the colours will fade. Occasional cleaning should be all you need to do. Unfortunately, over the years, I have seen many of these beautiful antique rugs damaged beyond repair. On the positive note, I am delighted to be able to bring new life to this fantastic over size rug even though the cost of work done was not cheap.
